   This non-profit organization, The Super Dimension Fortress (SDF) has been providing a stable, free shell hosting service to the public since 1987.

   Claims to be the oldest free shell hosting provider in the world, backed by Nyx Net, a non-profit corporation.
    
3. http://www.geekshells.org
   This provider has been providing free shell hosting service since 2005. Service includes full Unix shell support and irc support i.e. Epic, BitchX, Irssi, ircII and IRC bots i.e. eggdrop.
    
4. http://www.grex.org
   With servers running OpenBSD, Grex has been in service since 1991.
